Renaldo Gouws is a South African politician and social media personality who had a meteoric rise and fall in politics.
Well, actually, that's a bit dramatic.
He joined the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2012, became a councillor for Ward 2 in Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth) in 2019 (winning 94% of the vote), and served as the party's spokesperson for Economic Development, Tourism, and Agriculture before becoming an MP following the 2024 elections.

However, his parliamentary career was short-lived when an old video from 2010 surfaced in June 2024 showing him making 'racist' comments, leading to his suspension and ultimately the unanimous termination of his DA membership in September 2024, which cost him his parliamentary seat.

He now operates as a social media personality with around 200,000 YouTube subscribers.
📺 Live stream
Renaldo joined me on my new South African-focused weekly live stream — the first guest since I launched it in 2026.

This live stream is not available as an audio episode on podcast apps, but might be in the near future.
It’s unedited, unscripted, and lacks most of my usual post-production. That said, it will improve over the coming weeks.
