Aleksandr Dugin is a Russian philosopher and political theorist who has shaped modern geopolitical thought.
The Fourth Political Theory offers an alternative to liberalism, communism, and fascism, all of which are criminal and inhumane.
— Aleksandr Dugin

He is often labelled as "Putin's brain" because, through what he calls The Fourth Political Theory, he has significantly influenced Russian politics and provided intellectual grounding for actions like the "invasion" of Ukraine.
He opposes Western hegemony.

Aleksandr (yes, with that spelling) is best known for promoting something called Eurasianism which is, basically, a vision of a unified cultural and political bloc to counter Western influence and preserve what it means to be Russian (and, by extension, European).
His Fourth Political Theory rejects liberalism, democracy, individualism and argues for a path beyond communism and fascism which includes multipolarity.
America is a total geopolitical rival of Russia; our interests are fundamentally opposed.
— Aleksandr Dugin
In short, he argues that Russians (and other societies) must be left alone to manage their own affairs.
He adds that the West’s global dominance erodes cultural values, threatens traditional identities, celebrates degeneracy and stands for nothing.
