In this live stream, I chatted about one of my hobbies—writing and recording music—as well as my thoughts on why the media destroyed Michael Jackson. I also played a song I recently recorded.
I've always loved playing music, from writing songs to performing them on stage. Of course, like most teens, my band didn't go anywhere, but it was still a bunch of fun.
I own two guitars: a Taylor acoustic, and a Fender electric that was a gift from my parents many, many years ago.
My amp and electric guitar
Now, to be clear, I don't know what I'm doing most of the time.
I am not a very good guitarist and my musical theory is non-existent. I basically play four power chords and make a lot of noise doing it.
Also, I can't sing.
But none of this matters because, as I said, it's just a hobby.
I started my career as a cartoonist back in 2005. I've won awards, published books, and been fired from most publications. Then I launched a podcast and interviewed some of the biggest names in the world.
Dave Doubell is a South African cartoonist who sat down with me for coffee to chat about his views, why Cape Town is superior to Johannesburg, the future of South Africa, and taking over my position at the Daily Friend after they sacked me.
Have you heard of saturation diving? It's like scuba diving, but on steroids. Hugo de Preez spends a month at a time living in a pod, from where he dives hundreds of metres down to work on oil pipes.
