A few weeks ago, at UK Column's 20th anniversary weekend in Plymouth, I heard a mother named Kate Markland tell her story — heart-breaking, yet somehow hopeful. A family court judge ruled she was causing her nine-year-old son, Gabriel, "emotional harm" and ordered his removal — yet no psychologist or psychiatrist ever assessed her or him to confirm it. Armed police carried out that order, and she was left with one hour of FaceTime a week.
For nearly three years, she has been fighting to get him back.
Put another way, the state came into her home and took her child by force — based on, well, nothing
Since when is the government allowed to interfere with family matters?
The answer: since it turned totalitarian.
This is the same state that locked millions in their homes a few years back — "for their own good."

After spending time with Kate, it hit me that what psychiatrist Peter Breggin once told me — that the state, everywhere, is a predator — is true. And that we are the prey.

Kate was preyed upon.
The state cares only about its own power, expansion, and preservation — whatever the cost.
